“Photos for Life” is a charity whose aim is to use high quality child photography as a tool to raise funds for charity projects around Asia.

We work with schools, around a project that will involve all its students towards a goal defined with the teachers (for example, building a girl’s school in South East China, a shelter for street urchins in India, donating to an orphanage…).

How does it work?

We set up a professional studio in your school, and take high quality black and white pictures of all the children whose parents have agreed to the photo sessions.

The amount of money raised by the sale of the photos to parents, net of printing fees, is entirely donated to the chosen charity. Throughout the project, we, the photographers, work for free.

The children can take pride in the building of a school somewhere in China, or a shelter for girls in India, or building a new aisle to an orphanage somewhere in Asia.

This is not only fun for the children, to have their photos taken in a real studio, and see beautiful black and white pictures of themselves, it is also very educational and rewarding for them. They take great pride in being a part of such a project.

“Photos For Life” can be integrated in classes such as geography, history, civic education, talking about the rights of children around the world, the status of girls in different cultures and countries, conditions of life in sub developed countries etc etc….the subject is wide and varied.

In 2010, Photos For Life was implemented at the French Lycee in Singapore. With 350 participating children, Photos For Life raised 32 500 Sgd. This amount was shared between two charities " Couleur de Chine  (www.couleursdechine.org) and "Children in Need Institute (www.cini-india.org). Both charities are committed to building schools for girls, the first in southwestern China, the latter in India.

A second Photos For Life project was implemented at UWCSEA, international school in Singapore, in the second part of 2010 and with only 33 participating families, Photos For Life raised 15,000 Sgd. The funds raised were donated to the Central Asia Institute (CIA) via Pennies For Peace. The mission of the CIA, a non profit organisation created by Greg Mortenson, is to empower communities of Central Asia through literacy and education, especially for girls.  As of 2011, the CIA has successfully established 170 schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In 2011, Photos For Life was re-edited at the French Lycee in Singapore and 36,000 sgd were raised with 270 participating children. This amount was shared again between Couleur de Chine and Children in Need Institute with the aim to continue supporting their project in educating girls.
